Big oil should pay
— make your voice heard —
You and your neighbors are paying 100% of the bill for flooding, heat waves and other climate change costs.
Rent and property tax bills are rising faster than your paycheck. Electric, sewer, insurance, and water bills are piling up on the kitchen table. Why is living in Jersey so expensive?
When a local road washes away after a severe storm, your town has no choice but to fix it. They call the Department of Public Works, but instead of sending the bill to ExxonMobil, the bill shows up in your taxes or rent.
We have been paying 100% of the “climate bill” for too long. Superstorm Sandy alone caused an estimated $37.1 billion in damages. The NJ Department of Environmental Protection studied just 24 of New Jersey’s 564 municipalities and found potential flooding losses totaling $50 billion to $65 billion.
Big oil companies, like ExxonMobil and Saudi Aramco, have not been paying a fair share of these costs.
Add your name to the petition and make big oil pay their fair share.
“Our communities face the harsh realities of flooding, heat waves and severe storms and get stuck with the 100% of the bill. This is madness. Big oil should pay their fair share.”
